Chapel Ball

Chapel Ball is about the kids and our focus is on fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals! It is a learning league where we want players to learn the fundamental skills and knowledge of the game at each grade level. So, our focus is on player development, learning to play as a team, introducing kids to the sport of basketball, sportsmanship, and hopefully, if we are doing a good job, having fun! We will be teaching all kids basic basketball skills, such as: dribbling, passing, shooting, layups, defense, rebounding, offense (ball and player movement). We want to see all players involved in the game.
Our grade groups are K/1st, 2nd/3rd, and 4th-6th. We put no more than 10 players on each team and the teams are co-ed. For 2nd/3rd & 4th-6th there are mandatory player evaluations before the season starts for us to assess talent in order to allow us to put together as competitively balanced teams as possible. Those assessments will take place near the end of October and we will communicate those dates and times to you. Players must turn age 5 by December 1st to be eligible to play.
Sign-ups typically start on/or about September 1st, this year they will start on September 2nd due to Labor Day holiday on the first. All games and practices are at Windsor Christian Church. Practices are in the evenings Monday through Friday and Sunday afternoon, there is one, 1-hour practice a week, each week, for each team until the season is over. We take a two week break for Christmas and New Year’s.
K/1st kids have equal playing time. Basketball rims are set to 8’ tall and we use a 27.5” basketball (size 5). Defense is played with one foot in the key at all times and there is no full-court press. We play 14 minute running clock halves and coaches are allowed on the court to help the kids. We do keep score, but we do not track wins and losses as a league for this grade group. This grade group typically practices at 5:30pm in the evening.
2nd/3rd kids also have equal playing time. Basketball rims are set to 8.5’ tall and we use a 27.5” basketball (size 5). Defense is played out to the 3-point line. There is no full-court press. We play 8 minute running clock quarters. This grade group typically practices at 6:30pm in the evening.
4th to 6th kids have ¾ of the game worth of equal playing time. Basketball rims are set to 9’ tall and we use a 28.5” basketball (size 6). Defense is played in the half-court. We play 10 minute running clock quarters. This grade group typically practices at 7:30pm in the evening.

Registration Opens Tuesday,
September 2nd at 8 am

When you register, please pay attention to the Special Considerations section at the bottom of the registration page. In this section of the registration form, please list friend requests, days not available for team practices, other activities players are involved in that could limit their ability to attend practices and games. We do our best to honor friend requests, but we cannot honor them all. We put considerable effort into making the teams competitively balanced, but when players miss games because of other commitments it can be very frustrating to coaches.

Registration is open!

Lastly, this is an all volunteer effort except for our paid ref. Please be respectful to those involved with coaching, reffing, and running the league, we all do our best and we need to remember we do this for the kids. Good sportsmanship is expected from all. Some of our coaches are newer to coaching so they are learning, and being taught, good sportsmanship as well.
